Type of Service

Addictions Treatment - Problem Gambling

Program Description

A comprehensive assessment and ongoing counselling is provided for individuals experiencing difficulties related to gambling/gaming or problematic internet use. Individual goals and a treatment plan are determined through a collaborative process that is based on identifying strengths, treatment preferences and treatment availability. Various treatment approaches are offered such as cognitive behavioural, bio-psychosocial, stage of change, harm reduction and abstinence. Counselling options are available in individual, family and group formats including initial changes, relapse prevention, aftercare, family education and support. Internal referrals can also include addressing tobacco or substance use. Potential external referral options are to gambling specific residential or day treatment programs, Gamblers Anonymous (GA) and generic counselling organizations for financial and family concerns, or other life functioning areas of concern. Consultations, individual and group interventions are provided for family members and friends concerned about someone else's gambling, gaming or problematic internet use behaviours. Professional consultations are welcome.
