Program Description

The intensive residential program utilizes a holistic approach to recovery, which focuses on changing behaviour through an examination of values, beliefs and thoughts. Our program embraces a harm reduction philosophy in the delivery of care and demonstrates the importance of addressing the emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual areas in the process of personal change or recovery. The program includes gambling and/or substance abuse education sessions, life skills develop, coping with grief and loss, self-help introduction, stress and anger management, leisure and recreation skills and relapse prevention. The multi-disciplinary treatment team consists of certified problem gambling counsellors, certified addiction counsellors, a certified recreation therapist, stress management specialist, a physician, a psychiatrist, credit counsellors and a spiritual advisor. This program also treats process addictions (i.e., internet, gaming).

Access Information

Referral through designated problem gambling system- if no designated program is accessible then can contact program directly for Intake package. Assessments can be provided by phone. Referrals reviewed through Intake team. Health screen required. Medications must be approved by Intake. Any client who arrives under the influence of an unauthorized substance will be referred to the Withdrawal Management Centre; then reconsidered for admission to the Residential treatment program. To avoid disruption to the treatment program all appointments related to legal matters should be taken care of prior to treatment.
